A guardian dog home is a partnership between a breeder and a family that provides a loving, permanent home for a breeding dog while the breeder retains breeding rights for a limited period.

Responsible breeding programs commonly use guardian programs to ensure that breeding dogs live as cherished family companions rather than in kennels. This allows breeders to maintain genetic diversity and improve the breed while giving each dog the individual attention and family life it deserves.

How Does a Guardian Home Work?

In most guardian home arrangements:
